duke dog v hokiebird

We detoured at JMU on the way to Tech so Declyn could meet the Duke Dog and see where Mommy and Daddy started their love story 10 years ago this month.

We couldn't let the newest addition miss his chance with the infamous mascot.

Backstory: This handsome gentleman slept maybe 30 minutes the whole day and as a result passed out sitting up in his stroller post dinner with his Aunt Kaitlyn.  When we got to the car he cracked his eyes open, reached for my hand, and made the slyest smile at Kaitlyn.  I tried to catch the moment, and was somewhat successful.

Mike was still at his Tech recruiting event when we got home, so I placed this sleeping beaut in the hotel bed (in his raincoat and no pants -- he peed through them) and we waited for Daddy to put him to bed.  He did not bat an eye until 7 the next morning.

We got Starbucks for breakfast and afterwards had to cross the street so Declyn would stop screaming and pointing at the hokiebird he spotted.

Killing time while Kaitlyn was in class and Mike was conducting interviews.  I took him to a volleyball court to play in the sand but that idea was quickly bypassed when he spotted sticks.

Showing off the biggest stick he could find.

Attempting to sit on a slim rock.

He's such a studious student already.

Loved getting to spend some time with Kaitlyn at her school.  Who knows, this little one could one day be a Hokie.

love is in the air

This past weekend we celebrated Meagan as the bride-to-be.  It was a beautiful event (partly because I was a part of it ;)  ) and I still cannot believe in three months from the date this little lady will be a Misses. How are we becoming married ladies with babies and husbands?

How gorgeous is this cake?  Alyssa sent the woman a picture / idea of what she wanted and this was the result.
I completely forgot to take any pictures, so I'll have to wait for Alyssa to keep posting so I can keep borrowing.  :)

Photo sesh with the tassel garland and 36" balloon.

candy over play

Caden and Declyn escaped the kid play area and ran straight for the DMV's 'candy store'.  Little do they know that's the last place they'll want to be when they're older.  (After getting their licenses, of course).

Lunchbox? check!  Raincoat? check!  Ready to get behind the wheel and get his drive on.

Discovering the capabilities of chalk.

same lips

Although I'm not a huge fan of how these 4D pictures look, they are  neat when the technician is moving the wand on my belly and this little guy tweaks his ligaments.  When this image popped up the first thing the tech said was, "He has his brothers lips."  (Declyn was clearly in the room with us).  We can not wait to meet him!  Well, we can wait at least 3 more weeks.  :)

After the sonogram we went and got dinner in the town center.  I came out of a store and Mike was watching Declyn aggressively riding the wooden horse outside the baby store.  I wouldn't expect anything less.

CC and Pops have more cars then you can count, but never have they been used for this purpose before.

my blue-eyed boy

Some days I just stare at those baby blues ... they melt my heart.  Today was one of those days.

I was talking to Meagan and she asked what Declyn was up to, so this was what I sent her.  Sometimes our mornings are spent pant-less, and I'm OK with it.

The latest cousin craze is Baby Einstein.  Dec will go to the computer, point (and say something in his language).  Then as soon as you move the mouse he's up on the couch, front row for the show.

plane pull

We went to the Dulles Plane Pull for the first time and it was ah-mazing.  Not only did we get to see so many different planes and eat from food trucks, but we got to spend time with family, whose son owns a company called 123 Junk.  They were participating in the plane pull and Mike got asked to help, so it was even more fun then we anticipated!

Dec loved the chance to 'drive' the Junk truck.

There were literally plans everywhere.  It took a little while to explain to Declyn that airplanes are also on the ground, not just in the air.

31.8 weeks

Almost 32 weeks here.  (Two days short, to be exact).

Apparently the driveway and sidewalks got old, because James requested he draw smiley faces on the bottom of our shoes.

Trying to help Daddy keep the lawn alive.

Taking a break from the park to cool off in the grass.

Mike had to work late the night of supper club, so I just let things be as they were while I tried to clean the house and cook our contribution.  Above is case in point.

two peas, one pod

As crazy as these two are, they can be equally as loving.

First of all, Costco's $1 ice cream is probably one of my favorites.  Second, clearly these two goofs love it as well.
Declyn was feeding himself some, and when my mom tried to take the spoon away to help him, she got some on his forehead.  Well James thought this was the absolute funniest thing he had ever seen.  And of course between spoonful's of frozen yogurt, Declyn also couldn't keep a straight face.

A little chalk love to let Mike know we miss him on his business trips.

We were celebrating Casey's birthday and these two could care less.  Instead, they were acting like two clowns trying to get onto the same tiny bike.

Dec refused to sit in a booster seat and eat his lunch, but was totally fine with Brent feeding him peas off his tray.

gray finish with antique hardware

The nursery is slowly coming together.  This time we (Declyn and Mike) assembled the crib and I took a piece to Home Depot so they could match the paint.  The end result?  A beautifully painted dresser!

It was so sweet how Declyn wanted to be involved with the creating of his brothers nursery.  Clearly he was interested in the tools Daddy was using, but it'd rather pretend he genuinely wanted to get his brother's room ready for him.

The finished product.

slide hug

Declyn went down the slide, but Caden was sitting at the bottom, so what else was he supposed to do but hug it out with him?

You can see that while embracing it, Caden isn't stoked about the concept.  Or the love.

Despite the various animals we were there to see at the farm, these two just wanted to play with the rocks.

dinner lunges

If you look close enough you can spot his Batman ears.  Just a little dinner attire Mike picked out for him at some point in time.

We're not sure why, but he has started lifting his left leg up on the table every time he eats.  It's a habit we're trying to break him of, but we haven't been too successful.

Bath time at CC's involves a SOLO cup, which I love.  What's so funny about this picture / why I took it in the first place, is because he has learned to wash his own hair.  And when I say wash, I mean just pour water over his body and hope that it lands somewhere near his head.

noises in the sky

We went for a walk and little man wanted to get on the swing.  I couldn't believe that not only could he hold himself up on the 'big' swing, but that he was rocking his body in that pendulum motion to actually move.  Where did my baby go??
And on the way home he found the biggest stick he could (in a ditch, might I add) and dragged it all the way home for the dogs to play with.

To put it mild, he is obsessed with airplanes.  Anytime he hears something in the sky he says 'airplane' (his version, of course) and points immediately to the sky.  You can always tell whether or not he actually sees it, because  if he does he gets super excited, starts babbling more, and holds his point until the aircraft passes.

Ringing the doorbell has become another favorite.  Fenway will literally be standing right next to him and if he rings that bell, she starts barking as if there's an intruder.

flipshades

Almost daily Declyn wakes up with wet pants (he pulls his diaper down in the middle of the night) so I have started putting him in the most outrageous mix and match clothes I can before we get ready for the day.  Here he is showing off his new look (completed, of course, with white socks) in the shower because why wouldn't you play in the shower?

Muscle tanks and ice cream with this guy are my favorite afternoon dates.

Touching up Keegan's wall for us.  What you can't see is the safety first he's implementing -- holding onto the ladder with his left hand while he paints with his right.

We went to our local farmer's market and while we were there we headed over to a consignment shop to do a little shopping.  Declyn picked out these ah-mazing shades by Melissa & Doug that flip open.  I couldn't believe the style this little man already posses. ha.

Family shades.
