energy boosts

Since I am OBSESSED with Pinterest right now, I tried making an energy / healthy smoothie they recommended.  Well it wouldn't blend so I got fed up and put it in the fridge.

How pathetic-- Meag and I got the exact same scores...one of which was 0. Awesome.

Hubs came home and made everything right in the world again... and the smoothie was actually pretty delish.

home made vases

This is Mike and I's home made vase...didn't turn out too shab.

Fenners and I went on the longest walk possible today, only because she stopped at literally every small thing (even weeds growing between the sidewalk cracks) to smell it. The girl is nuts.

I was going to try the vase experiment by myself, but it involved fire so I thought it'd wait 'til Mike got home (all I pictured was the place going up in flames and the firefighters coming to our apartment.) I have to say it was the coolest experiment I've done in a long time-- all you do is wrap twine around the vase, remove it, dip it in nail polish remover, place the twine back on and set it on fire. You continually spin the bottle (see above) until the flames go out. Then you drop it in the cold tub of water. Mike decided to play it safe and wear an oven mit.

Precious girl was waiting for her daddy to come home from work. The team files on Thursday, so the nights have been a little late.

beachy keen

Leave it to Trader Joe's to tell it like it is.

A blurry pictures of sailboats in the water.

Trader Joe's flowers are the best. Not only are they beautiful but they're super cheap!

I always love the drive to Coronado Beach. The bridge is always a good time.

My favorite breakfast-- Starbuck's Egg White Sandwich. Hubs was nice enough to go across the street and get me one while I got ready for the beach.

Fenway will do anything for a spot in the sun, regardless of the floor of our bedroom after a fun Saturday night.

Sunbathing at the beach. nbd.

million dollar view

The meaning behind today's post -- One of the partner's at Mike's firm had a work party for "the team" and him and his wife's home was very pretty. You could stand from most places in the top floor (even the kitchen) and see straight into the ocean. Gorgeous!!
side note: the partner's wife works for Rock & Roll (marathon / half marathon running) that we've run before, so she talked about hooking us up whenever we wanted to do a race- yes, please!

DIY - monogrammed picture. I decided to do M and I's combined initials. This was a free printable from a website that I bought a $4 frame at Target to complete the look.

The goal with these bananas is to blend them together to make ice cream after they sit in the freezer. We shall see!

Mike, his co-worker, her boyfriend and myself all went out to get a nightcap after our work party. I thought the menu's were adorable.

double feature

Sweetheart started the morning very lovey dovey (see below) but by the end of the day she wanted nothing but attention and someone to throw her angry bird with.

I got online at 9 our time / 12 back home to get FREE Virgin Fest tickets! Yesterday we had the VIP code, but my smart self figured it was sold out when they kept saying "no tickets available for your section", not knowing I had to keep trying, and trying, and trying. In the end I got some!!

Who wouldn't love waking up to this face? Especially when all she wants to do is cuddle with you.

Mike and I walked out of Hit & Run at 9:35 and he turned to me and asked if we wanted to go back in and watch Campaign at 10:10. Duh! Mike thought I was crazy because I was making such a big deal out of a double feature-- I have never gone to one movie, turned around and bought tickets for another movie right after it. Both of them were hilarious-- Mike favored Hit & Run.

dog parks & doctors

Fenway got to experience Balboa Dog Park today and she loved every second of it. The park literally goes on...

...and on. Although she spent a lot of time exploring, she did get her moments of ADD where she'd take off running after a random dog just to see what they were doing. This girl in the picture was hilarious-- she never looked up from her phone the entire time she was there, despite the fact that her dog would literally jump up and springboard off of her side.

She was to wiped out that I caught her snoozing on her dad's dry cleaning in the backseat.

Thank you, Pinterest, for another DIY project. On Saturday we have a work event to go to. The "team" is chipping in for a bottle of nice wine, so I decided to make some personalized coasters to go with it.

We had two left over, so I made one for Mike and one for myself. Take note as to what colors we both choose for our coasters in the bottom picture.

Over a week ago Mike lost a refundable check. He literally got out of the car, walked to the ATM, saw that it wasn't working, got back in the car and we drove to another ATM. Upon arrival, we both got out and walked to the second ATM. This is when he discovered he couldn't find the check. We literally searched everywhere, even getting back in the car and going to the original ATM to re-trace our steps. Kindly enough, someone found it at a restaurant (?) and mailed the check back to the company who issued it to us. Mike thinks sending these people a Starbucks gift card is a little much seeing as they would have "committed a felony" trying to cash it, but I think a nice Thank You will suffice. I want people to know that there's people who appreciate kind gestures. Needless to say, I am not in charge of depositing the check.

Her and I have a Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy that comes in handy when situations like this occur.

I have been craving "Ike's" for some time now and after 3.5 hours of running errands, I decided to treat myself to a box. Truth be told, I had to keep the box in the car when I got home to restrain myself from eating the whole thing. In case you didn't know, I have no self control.

The final product waiting to dry.

Little lady was such a sweetheart at the vet as she patiently waited for her steroid shot. Shes been licking her paws since we picked her up from Camp Run a Mutt so I wanted to get her checked out. The doctor said it could be a surface she played on, or allergies. The nurse loved her so much that she told me, and I quote, "I just want to lay and cuddle with her all day." This was while she was lying on the floor petting her...no judgement here.

nobu

I know I've talked about this before, but when getting wet (or sometimes when she's dry) Fenway likes to roll around in the sand, covering her entire body.  When she looks like this (usually worse) I like to call her White Chicks - you know, the movie where the Wayans brother dress up as a white girl? That's Fen.

Mike's after dinner dessert was Ghirardelli's Sundae....mine was watermelon Pinkberry.

It's always nice to come across an article I can relate to.

Side Note: Tonight Mike's boss invited me to dinner with him and "the team" at http://www.noburestaurants.com/san-diego/experience/introduction/    I have never seen / eaten so much sushi in my life. On the plus side, it's always nice to see a $600 dinner tab and know you don't have to pay a cent for it.  The perks of being a DHW (Deloitte House Wife).   :)

bt - seattle

Today Mike returned from his business trip to Seattle. There's nothing better then when my man returns from being away from his family.

I found a spot for the sign Mike's parents got me for my birthday. It's from a neat little shop in Seaport Village and all of the pictures are taken in San Diego. I know my birthday passed a few weeks ago, but if I'm being honest I was going to hang it over my bed BUT I'm trying to get our deposit back so the less holes, the better.

Mom sent me a picture of James playing in his "pool" in the backyard. It looks more like a slip.n.slide with water spurting out, but whatever gets the trick done.

Mike brought back a souvenir from the original Starbucks in Seattle.  I guess I'll have to start drinking coffee now.

Looking at this now, I'm wondering if Mike was in a car when he took this picture... either way, it's cool to see what the founding Starbucks looked like.

monday's maid

Today started our every.other.week maid service.  Don't judge.

I went to use the bathroom when she left and she rolled our TP hotel style.  Nice touch Leticia.

Camp Mutt wiped Fenway out-- literally. This is her at the end of the day.

Leticia did a little rearranging in the bathroom.  I have to say, I like her style.

And when I woke up at 6 AM to take Mike to the airport, I found her on the couch like this.

drive, fly, sleep

Fortunately we were able to sleep in a little this morning at the hotel (after going to bed at 3) but the rest of the day flew by-- breakfast brunch for me, some family time, 4.5 hour flight, meeting Uncle Paul to get Fenway and finally cuddles in bed.

James and I have our own secret facial expressions, our favorite being the "pirate" face. Case.in.point.

I was obsessed with the airport parking lot we chose. Not only was it cheap ($11/night) but it literally picked you up at your car, gave you a card to remember where you parked, the dropped you back off at your car again. One word - amazing.

My Uncle was kind enough to pick Fenway up at Camp Mutt before it closed for the day so we met him out at Knotty Barrel for a bite to eat and to pick up our baby girl. Her report card was all A's, of course.

mr. & mrs. bourdon

By far one of my most favorite things in the world are weddings. This weekend we got to attend the wedding of one of Mike's fraternity brothers in Chevy Chase. Not only was it a wonderful time for celebration, but it was a chance to see some friends that we haven't seen since we've moved.

Waiting on our food at the reception. I love this man.

Adorable corks that I of course brought home to go in our cork jar.

Saturday morning was spent with Casey and Jess but I of course forget to take any pictures...only mental ones like James' jaw dropping when my dad pulled out of the garage in his Street Rod. :)

standby

This morning we woke up at 5:30 (the earliest I've been up in a looooong time) just to get ready and drop Fenway off at Camp Mutt before heading to the airport. Our original flight was the red eye this evening, but we decided to wait on Standby for the AM instead. The best part was we were numbers 6 and 7 on the wait list, but were automatically bumped up to numbers 1 and 2 when we checked in with the airlines. Needless to say Mom, Smalls & James were pleasantly surprised when we arrived 14 hours early!

This is going to sound inappropriate, but my favorite thing to do with my nephew is let him run around in just his diaper.  Him and his dog, Harley, are bff's and as you can see, James would rather go in his birthday suit rather than just a diaper.

If you ask James, "how strong are you?" or "show me your muscles", this is the result.

Carpool in Arlington was a reunion of love.

James enjoyed having his breath taken away when he put his face in front of the fan. He thought it was absolutely hysterical.

Mike and I were honored to fly with 13 of the 53 Paralympics headed to London. It was sweet how the stewardess made a few announcements over the intercom to let everyone know and of course everyone on board went nuts with applauds and excitement.

One of the best parts of getting in early was the chance to help James out with "bath time." I put that in air quotes because the tubby time consisted of a bar of a soap, a luffa and a sailboat. Mom and Smalls claim they don't have toys because he doesn't have bath time at Mom's house, but I guarantee after my time with him he now has a few toys to play with if the chance ever comes up again.

And he brushes his own teeth, which is in itself adorable.

Sister sisterssss. My soulmates met me out for a drink (or two) while we were there Friday night.
