Literally the first ones in line. Since Declyn was sleeping so peacefully, I thought it was best to let him sleep until the moment Santa came. Well, that plan may have backfired. I'll let you be the judge.
Exhibit A. This was the first picture I took -- still in shock / possibly half asleep.
(James was scared of Santa, so I told him his brave cousin would show him it was OK; Santa's cool. So much for that idea.)
Exhibit B. Back arched, lungs inflated. And those were real tears being shed. I hate real tears.
Next I thought it'd sit with him in my lap … again, not thrilled.
On our way out James got his face painted as Rudolph. He was a little hesitant at first (stranger danger), but eventually he came around.
And of course Declyn patiently waited for James to be done.
I present to you, (drum roll please) … Rudolph!!
Since the real Santa didn't work out too well, we thought we'd try a fake one.
How sweet is Dec reaching for James' hand? All of a sudden James looked at me and goes, "He's holding my hand."
love. love. love.
