napa - cake bread & silver oak

Onto the most delicious part of the trip...NAPA!

In between wineries we had to stop for some food (and some more wine).

Our first winery was my preference of white wine-- Cake Bread.  Our "host" Bob was so cute!  He was an older gentlemen.  This winery had two other couples (who knew each other) and Mike and I.  It was a typical setup that I'm used to in wineries where they give you the menu and go through each one while you're standing up.  Obviously Bob asked questions about us throughout the tasting and we spent some time chatting while drinking.

Our first purchase ... a few bottles.  Mike also walked away from here saying we needed to get  a wine fridge.  Hearing that, I knew we were going to take a turn for the better the further down the line of wineries we went.

*The second winery, Silver Oak, was more of a tour and tasting combined.  The tour guide took us to...

1. a room filled with pictures of the owners, what the original property looked like, etc.
2. outside across the vineyards and into the room where they have barrels and barrels filled with wine that was being distilled.
3. back to another room where it showed bottles and bottles of their wines, as well as the menu where you could choose what you wanted to buy-- we purchased two bottles.

I really liked this wineries atmosphere, and the tour, the only downside was it was red wine.  Therefore,  I didn't drink as much of it but it was still neat how as she was talking she was constantly re-filling peoples glasses so yours never went dry.

After the wineries we went and grabbed Fenway from the hotel and headed to one of the towns where we walked around, ate some more and you guessed it... drank more wine!

Mike would be mortified if I told this, but he was enjoying his wine so much that he had a red mark on his forehead from running into the door and when we took Fenway to their dog park there were 1 foot hurdles for the dogs to jump over and while Mike was trying to teach Fen how to do it, he may or may not tripped and knocked one over...just saying.  Love you.
