when it rains it pours

Sad news has hit again.  Today we found out that my aunt passed away from cancer.  It seems like every time I pick up the phone there's bad news waiting on the other side.  On the other hand, I am a stronger believer that God gives us only what we can handle.  So for some reason or another, my aunt was needed in Heaven more than on Earth and is now resting peacefully.

This continual bad news and loss of loved ones has made me remember to not take every day for granted and that each moment we have here on Earth is a blessing.  I know it's easy to say that, and it usually is only remembered when tragedy occurs, but I'm hoping it still stick with me daily so that I never forget how blessed I am.

Being the good dad that he is, Mike stopped on the Freeway for Fen to pee since she wouldn't stop crying in the car.  (Mom, I know you can relate).

Today I finished The Happiness Project.  Thank you, Meag, Lyss & Den!  On a scale of 1-10 it'd give it a 7.  As much as I enjoyed reading it, and really learned quite a lot from it, there were moments when I wanted to skip around to hear more about her actual life and less about the research she'd found.  Either way, it was a great book and one I will be passing on to my mom!

Mike signed me up for free Chelsea Handler tickets to Chelsea Lately, and I got an email saying I could come and watch the live taping!  Unfortunately, we were on our way out of town.  It did give me hope, though, that I can see a show while we're out here.

Tonight's dinner: chopped tomato, avocado, and chicken with salt, pepper and balsamic vinegar dressing. Delicious.

This quote really hit home while I was reading the book, so I thought it'd take note.  "There are times in the lives of most of us, when we would have given all the world to be as we were but yesterday, though that yesterday had passed over us unappreciated and unenjoyed."
aka. enjoy your life today because as good or as bad as it may be, you're alive and it's yours. and of course take today's moments and savor them.

Saving the best for last...HAPPY 89th BIRTHDAY to my beautiful grandmother GG!!  This wonderful lady is 89 years young and is still surrounded by siblings ranging in age from 95-100.  I hope I have her genes! As GG says, "as long as you're healthy and have friends" it's nice to live this long.
