there's a streaker on the field!

This morning we went to 9 AM, as usual, except today was special.  Today's mass was in remembrance of my sweet Aunt Jeanette.  Unfortunately I felt a little light headed (probably thanks to Saturday's day in the sun) so I had to step out towards the end BUT being in California, the church keeps its doors open since it doesn't have air condition. As a result, we could sit and listen to the rest of the mass.

Saddest story about Torrey Smith, a Raven's player.  His younger, 19-year-old brother passed away in a motorcycle accident around midnight and he decided to play in the football game the following day... I believe he scored two touchdowns and six passes? And the announcers had a moment of silence for his brother at the beginning of the game.

I little improtu purchases in line at Nordstroms--- OPI - Don't Pretzel my Buttons.

I can't even describe this game. One of the announcers called it a backyard football game (aka anything goes) and at one point the (Baltimore) crowd was literally chanting BULLSHIT in unison for about two minutes straight.

Oh yea, and a man was down to nothing but his shorts and decided to run across the field. Amazing.

I finally treated myself to a new makeup bag. This picture doesn't even do justice to the neon orange this bag possess. It literally blinds you... in a good way.

fun in the hot sun

I can't believe it's towards the end of September and I'm still going to the beach... and sweating profusely while there.

After lunch Fenway and I opted for a photo shoot in front of the cooling fountain.  Don't you see how happy she is?  She loves having her picture taken.

Horrible picture but we were sitting having fro-yo when 3 cutie firemen walked by literally in a line. By the time I grabbed my phone they were out of place and gone, but it looked like a scene out of a salutary film.

Lunch at Tent City had this miniature cactus just chilling as its centerpiece.

Fenway's favorite way to cool down-- standing on the console and sticking her face in the air condition while drops of sweat fall off her enormous tongue.

New digs-- Yogurt Escape. Same concept as the one in Little Italy (self-serve frozen yogurt).

She was barely off her leash when she rushed to the water and was playing in it all by herself, as if she had the entire beach to herself.

Despite the gorgeous clouds, the sun still seemed to kiss our skin.

BBQ bake-off

This morning Mike and I left at 7 to drop his car off for an oil change-- turned out we needed new brakes too...awesome.

After he went to a few meetings he came back to finish his day working from home and to pick up his car. I convinced him to take his mobile internet box to the dog park so we could let Fenway play. Everything went well until the box became overheated from the sun and we had to hurry home so he could make all those important decisions he has to make.

We went to a BBQ and decided to spice things up with a friendly bake-off of brownies. We each used the same carmel brownie mix except...

Mike's had: Pam spray in lieu of oil
mine had: no oil or egg and just a cup of fat-free Greek yogurt.

It was a tie...but clearly mine was better.

Fun Story: Pulling into a parking garage spot I told Mike to watch the BMW on the left so I didn't hit it and it'd watch the cement wall.  Needless to say, not even a second later I heard the scraping of our bumper as it snuggled against our car.  Amazing.

quality service

Mike worked half his day from home, so Fen and I tried our hardest not to distract...but it wasn't easy, or really that successful.

Another BFF, Kathryn's, boo has moved to LA and fortunately has some monthly business to tend to in San Diego. SO we got to meet him for dinner and drinks at this scrumptious placed called Quality Service.  Any restaurant that has deviled eggs as an app is my kind of place.

When we got home I sprawled out on the bed and Fen brought it in for a close snuggle.  I swear she's a little person sometimes.

So I fly home at the beginning of next week and get to see my girls-- wahooo!!!  We're planning something for Friday and this was Lauren (bless her biff heart)'s response to our group email.  I don't know why, but I absolutely loved this little summary she had for me.

You know you have good friends when the first thing they say when I tell them I'm coming home is, "I'll take off work."  I can feel the love and am BEYOND excited to see them!!

suckville

I thought this title was appropriate for various reasons...

One of my besties, Kristen, sent me this hilarious / heartfelt card. Inside it said - Population: Me.  Miss you, followed by a very sweet message. Her and I are both counting down the days until we're back to living close to each other.

Fen must have known she was headed back to the Vets today to have the "doctor" check her rash. I don't by any means want to hate on SD vets, but it seems the ones we go to out here are a little too laid back.  Therefore, before I took her to the dog park and we met Daddy at the vet...

We had a little cuddle and movie time. Yes, I'm wearing clothes-- perv.

pick 'em pro

Another pretty day in SD.

This is the same view I see every time I take Fenway to go the bathroom and for some reason it looked beautiful to me today.

My brother.in.law has us participate in Yahoo Pick'em every year and I'm not one to brag, but guess who CaliFitz is...  just saying.

Such a lady.

I loved this email from B -- just one glimpse into how we sometimes communicate via email.

Translation...
I like it = clothes I sent him links to online that I wanted.
I work out = duh. going to the gym.
I go to urban = walking to Urban Outfitters with the dog to do some shopping.
I heart waffles = wanting breakfast for dinner.
I love you always = well, I think you know what that means.  :)

love you

Fenway's night light came in this adorable package.

Little lady was such a good girl while the maid was here for 3 hours, snuggling her puppy while taking a nap.

I found my favorite new non-contestant during a TVO.ed X Factor episode... can you guess who she is?

My dad sent me this-- snack time with Pops = pirate face for Aunt Kate.  I love this little man.

So Fen's new thing is to sneak out of the bedroom in the middle of the night and either finish her water (and move her bowl around until someone wakes up and gets her more) or finish/eat her food. Therefore, I purchased her this night light so that she could see what she was doing in the middle of the night.

bub's & football

Sunday has developed a new routine for us-- hike/walk early in the morning (regardless of whether or not we're hungover/tired), church, and then Sunday fun.day football.  It's definitely interesting to go from the doors of church to the doors of a bar.

I saw this cutie at the bar and couldn't help myself.

We skipped hiking this weekend and just took Fenway for a walk and to play in the waterfront field. I was watching her play when this magician rode by me on his bike.

Walking back from the bar we saw rows of Marine Corps buses parked in front of the stadium. Mikes guess was it was military appreciation day at the baseball game.

Rooting on our home team--- the Washington Redskins.

Nothing like a little screwdriver at 10 am on a Sunday to start your day off right.  Cheers!

best lover

With weather once again in the 100's, it's no surprise we spent the day at (or should I say in) the pool. There were about 5 different couples / groups of friends that came and went while we were there and I was proud to be the only ones to stick it through. I will say, however, that we spent a lot of time in the water because it was only a few seconds of that sun and you were covered in sweat. Sexy, I know.

After a day of sun and errands, Mike cooked us dinner. :)  I broke out laughing because of his make-shift apron.  I didn't expect that studliness to walk around the corner when it was time to eat.  And I think he liked it because he never took it off, even while were eating.

Only at CVS do you find such a gracious award.  Clearly Mike won it.

The morning is for surfing...

Even in the early hours, the sun was out and it was about 90 degrees.

Fenway never fails to follow Mike out...

...until I call her back.

Mike making his way out to the waves.

Fen loves to hop along the beach and play with the waves, meaning she'll run into the water until they start to crash, and she'll turn around and run back or literally hop along the waters edge so they don't get her. Don't ask.

A sea of surfers.

Enjoying life.

el vitral

I love it when Hubs comes home early from work, especially on a Friday. :)  Due to the high heat / temperature, today was a lazy day-- gym, a walk with Fen and catching up on TV before Mike gets home.

I have been wanting to go to this mexican restaurant, El Vitral, forever. So Mike called this week and made a reservation. I know the guacamole doesn't look too appetizing, but it was. The mini salmon tacos were delish, and the black beans made everything right.  As for the affects it had on Mike and I the next day, we won't get into.

I finally got a taste of what everyone back home experienced this summer (minus the humidity) and weather like this kept Fen and I in air condition for most of the day.

someone turns 3-0!

Today is a VERY special day!!  My big brother, Casey, turns 30!  As much as it sucks that I won't get to celebrate with him, at least I got to talk to him a few times throughout the day.  Happy Birthday Case!

After picking up all the ingredients, Mike made us taco salads for dinner.

I was reading People at the pool (duh) when I saw these yummy treats.... I need to definitely try them.
I <3 anything lemon.

In honor of Casey's birthday, I made homemade mozzarella sticks--- his favorite!

My view while trying to tan the backside of my bod.  Nothing like a little exoticness to spice up your day.

My ingredients for deliciousness-- bread crumbs, flour, & egg. Dip the mozzarella into the flour, then the egg, and finally the baked crumbs.
