our first (non-family) visitor

Today one of my besties, Kristen, arrived! For as fast as our five days together flew by, I'm grateful that I occasionally remembered to snap some "classy" pictorials with my iPhone.

Our friend Robby is stationed in the Navy out here so he was kind enough to bring some friends and meet up with us.  We, of course, were kind enough to reciprocate our generosity.  Above is a t-shirt someone got us to support the tata's (cancer).  Although this picture is super classy, what you don't see is the full slogan-- I <3 motor boating.  Just two married, tasteful women enjoying a night on the town at Barley Mash.

My DIY project was drying while I went to grab Kristen from the airport.

This second DIY definitely was a more let-your-imagination-take-over type of DIY with no patterns to cut and pin to the canvas.  They were a little messier (I waited too long for the tape to dry) but from a distance you can't tell where the paint walks onto the white a little.

My sorority sister/good friend Kristi sent me this amazing surprise-- a sweet card and photo (she's the one in the middle, clearly on her wedding day).  Together the five of us make up 851, our old townhouse at JMU.

Of course I took Kristen to La Jolla (hey, there's only so many places I am quite familiar with).

Fresh off the plane I took her straight for some lots of shopping and some sightseeing!

One word: adorable.  No, she's not getting ready to take us on a safari tour of SD.  Instead, Kristen just wanted to show off her new fedora and cellphone case courtesy of J.Crew.  Mind you she looked in Hats International, along with countless other stores for the perfect fedora, only to get it in a store/online shop we're all familiar with.  Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants.

While at Tipsy Crow (or as we called it, Tipping Cow) we kept requesting the bartender gave us, "lots of cherries."  I'm pretty sure at some point it was just ice and cherries in a glass.

Kristen, Robby and I-- three's company.
